Frequently asked questions
How do I sign in?
Enter your email address and we send a 6-digit code to it; enter the code in the app. There is no password to remember. If you turned on a cloud password or two-step verification, the app asks for it after the code. A new account is created the first time you sign in with an address.
The code does not arrive
- Check the Spam and Promotions folders; the email’s subject starts with the code itself, for example “123456 is your mr.enzo verification code”.
- Make sure the address is spelled correctly.
- A code is valid for 10 minutes. You can ask for a new one, up to 5 times in 10 minutes.
- Still nothing? Write to us from that address.
How do I find people?
Search by username or name, or use “Find Friends from Contacts”: it checks the phone numbers and email addresses in your address book once and shows who is already on mr.enzo. Nothing from your address book is stored. You can also add someone in person by scanning the QR code on their screen.
Are my messages and calls private?
Yes. Chats, group and channel posts, attachments and calls are end-to-end encrypted: only the people in the conversation can read or hear them, not us. To make sure nobody is in the middle, compare the safety number with your contact in the chat menu.
Not end-to-end encrypted — because it is meant for others to see or because we need it to run the service:
- stories, and a sticker set you publish in the public catalogue;
- your profile: username, name, photo and bio;
- the name, description, photo, member list and roles of a group or channel;
- the messages you attach to a report.
To deliver messages and calls our server also necessarily sees who contacts whom, when and how much — not what. The details are in the Privacy Policy, section 2.
What is the offline network and how do I use it?
When there is no internet, iPhones with mr.enzo nearby can pass encrypted messages to each other directly over Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi — no mobile network or Wi‑Fi router needed. If the recipient is not nearby, other mr.enzo users’ phones can carry the message along for up to 24 hours (“Pigeon Mail”); they cannot read it. A phone that carries your message and gets internet access can also hand it to our server, which delivers it like any other message (a “courier”).
- Keep Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi turned on (they do not need to be connected to a network) and allow Bluetooth and Local Network access for mr.enzo.
- It works best between people who have already chatted in mr.enzo, so their phones know each other’s encryption keys. You can exchange keys in person, without the internet, with the QR code on the offline network screen; the very first message to a new contact still needs the internet once.
- iOS limits background radio use, so keep the app open when you rely on the offline network.
- In Settings you can choose Auto, Always or Off. Nearby devices do not see your name: the radio shows a random code that changes from time to time. The messages and service frames of the offline network do carry your numeric account ID and your public signing key, so that the phones passing them on can check they are genuine (Privacy Policy, 2.6).
What are push-to-talk, translation and voice-to-text?
- Push-to-talk: hold the button and speak to one contact; they hear you almost at once, also on a locked iPhone. Both of you must have added each other as contacts and switched it on. If the app says “Unavailable”, ask your contact to add you and to update the app.
- Translate (touch and hold an incoming message) and voice-to-text (on a voice message) run on your iPhone with iOS’s own tools. Nothing is sent to us. iOS may ask to download a language the first time, and not every language is supported.
- App lock and hidden chats are protected by a passcode that exists only on your iPhone. We cannot reset it for you.
Stickers and the public catalogue
You can make stickers from your photos and send them in chats; like photos, they are encrypted. Publishing a set in the public catalogue is optional: we review every set before it appears, and a published set is visible to other users. You can unpublish or delete your set at any time.
To report a set, open it in the app and choose Report. Without the app — for example if you are a rights holder — email ajkzantokaev@gmail.com with the link to the set (it looks like mrenzo.com/s/…) and tell us what is wrong. See the Terms of Use, section 5.1.
Calls do not ring or do not connect
- Allow notifications for mr.enzo and check that Focus or Do Not Disturb is not silencing calls.
- Allow microphone access (and camera for video calls) in iOS Settings → mr.enzo.
- Update to the latest version of the app.
- On restrictive networks calls go through our relay server and may take a few seconds longer to connect.
How do I report or block someone?
Touch and hold a message and choose Report, or open a person’s profile and choose Report or Block. Groups, channels, stories and public sticker sets have Report in their menu. A blocked person can no longer message or call you, see your stories or see when you are online. We review every report, usually within 24 hours, and remove content and users that break the Terms of Use.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings → Delete Account and confirm by typing your username. Your account, profile, contacts, files, group posts, published sticker sets and waiting messages are deleted from our servers, and the app’s data is removed from your iPhone. This cannot be undone. What stays on the servers for a while after that is listed in the Privacy Policy, section 6. If you cannot open the app, email us from your account’s email address and we will delete it for you.
Can I call emergency services?
No. mr.enzo cannot place emergency calls. Use your phone’s regular calling in an emergency.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone with iOS 18 or later.
